AQUANEX™ : Physical Stroke Analysis
Aquanex measures the difference between a good and bad swimming stroke.
AQUANEX is an acronym for "QUANtification of AQUAtic EXercise." Using submerged sensors, the system detects the forces exerted on limbs or paddles moving through the water and relays the information to a computer for recording and analysis.

The system allows for the continuous monitoring of an activity and displays a graph of the force exerted on the computer screen in real time. At any time during monitoring, the operator can begin to collect data which can be analyzed at the end of the session. An analysis of the data using a selection of metrics can be saved and printed for the athlete.

AQUANEXs also allows for the data to be saved in a database and later accessed. Data from multiple testing sessions can be listed and graphically compared.

AQUANEX graphical output A range of different sensors are available for the AQUANEX unit. Whatever sensor system is used, the force data is clearly displayed and easily recorded. The AQUANEX suite runs on a Windows laptop, or PC. The AQUANEX unit itself is compact enough to be carried in most laptop bags.

Coaches can use the software suite in a variety of ways, from simple instant graphical feedback to time-series analysis of metrics derived from the data captured. AQUANEX features an integral database system to allow recordings for a number of swimmers to be organised over time, with other training notes if required.

The next step from physcial stroke analysis is physical stroke analysis with synchronised video recording. With real time video technical problems highlighted by physical analysis can be corrected immediately. See AQUANEX+Video™

AQUANEX™ : Sensor Types
Type A Type B Type C Type D
The Type A sensor is designed to be worn on the hand or foot. The main body of the sensor will rest between the third and fourth fingers on the back of the hand.

Type A sensors are normally used for swimming stroke analysis.
The Type B sensor can be strapped to the upper or lower arm or leg. Two Type B sensors can be snapped together to fit around the trunk.

Type B sensors are ideally suited to therapeutic work.
Type C sensors can be custom installed on aquatic exercise equipment. A Type C sensor requires a cavity of 1.25 in. x .75 in. x .5 in. (32 mm x 19 mm x 13 mm).

Contact SwimRight for more information.
Type D sensors can be installed by the user on hand paddles, fins, and other aquatic exercise equipment that meets the installation specifications.

AQUANEX™ : Interface Units
DU Series TU Series
The AQUANEX interface unit amplifies and converts the analogue signal from the sensors into a digital signal useable by the computer. The interface units are compatible with most Windows laptops and PCs, and require no external power supply.

There are several different models available, with between 2 and 8 channels. The DU series units feature both USB and parallel port interfaces.
For the ultimate in coaching freedom, the TU series units feature a wireless telemetry link between the swimmer and the interface unit.

This allows the swimmer to be continuously analysed throughout lengthy swims, as well as the snapshot analysis possible with the DU series units. The TU series interface units are supplied with an accompanying wireless sensor unit worn by the swimmer.

TU Series units are available in two channel versions only.
AQUANEX™ : Coaching Resources
Many research papers and magazing articles have be published on the most effective coaching methods using the AQUANEX system. This is a small selection of the most relevant information available.
AQUANEX™ is protected by U.S. Patents Number : 4,654,010, 5,005,140, 5,258,927. SwimRight is proud to act as the sole UK and European distributor for the AQUANEX system.
